  • Speed Dating: Fastdate hosts events around Gauteng on a weekly basis and are expanding into Cape Town by December 2011. This is the first speed dating agency in South Africa. We have started hosting events with them and you can find them listed on the Fastdate Facebook page.
  • Online Dating: DatingBuzz is the biggest internet dating website in South African and probably the rest of Africa. They have been around longer than most and have the best matching algorithm we’ve ever tried and tested in our website reviews.

Because very few people read books I encourage you to start with the following movies:

Tao of Steve Donal Logue distilled Taoism Buddhism for dating relationshipsFeatured Movie – Tao of Steve: In his early 30s, the beer-bellied Dex has things figured out. He’s widely read in philosophy, he’s studied Steve McQueen the prototypical cool American hero, and he’s distilled Buddhism and Taoism into three laws that make him a hit with women: don’t express desire, do something heroic in front of her, then retreat. A part-time job with young children, beer, guys, Frisbee golf, pool, poker, his dog Astro, and sex: what could be missing? Then, at his ten-year college reunion, Dex meets Syd, and the “Tao of Steve” may not be enough to get him what he wants. Plus, Syd remembers something important that Dex has forgotten. Can a cool smart guy, 50 pounds overweight, find his bliss?

Always talk to strangers by David WygantFeatured Book – Always Talk To Strangers: 3 Simple Steps To Finding The Love Of Your Life by David Wygant: According to the 2000 census, there are 82 million single adults in the United States. Why, then, do so many have such a difficult time finding a partner? The problem, Wygant contends, is that too many people are “Passive Waiters,” who lazily wait for love to arrive while, everyday, opportunities are passing them by. A dating coach billed as the “Dr. Phil for the single set,” Wygant offers a sensible book that deconstructs the “myths” that contribute to this mentality (i.e., that everyone is “entitled” to love; that “love is fate”; that “men are supposed to make the first move”; etc.) and gives singles advice on how to achieve a new sense of self and improve their perspective on dating. He walks readers through a mental and physical makeover, complete with checklists that include tips on personal hygiene and overcoming dating anxiety. Then he discusses all types of dating scenarios, from blind dating to Internet dating. He even suggests out-of-the-ordinary places to meet people (gas stations, political campaign rallies, etc.) and guides readers over various hurdles (i.e., how to approach a potential date and how and when to make the first phone call). “Meeting new people to date is easy and fun, and can open up your entire world if you treat it as a journey rather than a chore,” Wygant writes. This accessible book, with its practical advice and breezing writing, will help readers take the first step on that journey.
